A Simple Daily Wellness Ritual: Jen Jones' Lemon Olive Oil Elixir
Some wellness routines are so complicated that they never make it past the first week. This one is refreshingly different.
This lemon olive oil elixir was created and shared by Jen Jones, and we are giving her full credit for the recipe that inspired us to try it. [Link to Jen Jones' original recipe here.] With fresh lemon, ginger, extra-virgin olive oil and raw honey, it tastes surprisingly similar to homemade lemonade and takes only a few minutes to prepare. Make one batch, keep it in the refrigerator and pour yourself 4 to 8 ounces each day.
It is an easy way to bring several nourishing whole-food ingredients together in one bright, drinkable ritual—without adding another complicated task to your morning.
Why people love this combination
Jen has spoken about using this elixir as part of a routine intended to support immunity, energy, liver health, the body's natural detoxification processes and healthy lymphatic flow. It is important to remember that no drink can “detox” the body or treat swollen lymph nodes on its own; the liver, kidneys, digestive system and lymphatic system already perform that work. What this elixir can do is provide hydration and nutrient-rich ingredients that support normal body functions as part of an overall balanced lifestyle.
-
Whole lemon: Lemon provides vitamin C, an antioxidant the body needs for normal immune function and collagen production. Blending the whole lemon also retains more of the fruit's fiber and flavorful plant compounds than using the juice alone.
-
Fresh ginger: Ginger brings warmth and a lively kick that balances the lemon. It has a long history of culinary and traditional wellness use, especially for digestion and occasional nausea.
-
Extra-virgin olive oil: Olive oil supplies monounsaturated fat and helps make the drink feel more satisfying. The small amount in each serving also softens the sharpness of the whole lemon.
-
Raw honey: Honey rounds out the acidity with natural sweetness and makes this nourishing blend taste like a treat. Our Wildflower Honey keeps the flavor classic, while Ginger-Infused or Ceylon Cinnamon-Infused Honey adds another layer of warmth.
-
Filtered water: Hydration plays an essential role in energy, digestion and the body's normal elimination processes. Turning plain water into something you look forward to drinking can make consistency much easier.
Together, these ingredients create a tart, lightly sweet and invigorating drink that can make a daily wellness routine feel effortless. Some people find the bright flavor especially refreshing in the morning, but it can be enjoyed at any time of day.
